MOUNTING AND USING THE ROBART STYLE HINGES!!!
You
have to be real patient and follow the following to
the letter. Hinge modification is required and some fitting
of you doors and dome panel must be done and tested before you mount
them!
Again, most information is from Keith Bellavia, fellow Southern R2
Builder.
Robart hinges as they come in a set of two per package.

in "normal model aircraft" confutation. You do NOT want to assemble them
this way for our needs!!!!
Doors will NOT open with
this configuration!!!!

A diagram provided by
Keith Bellavia, you will see his droid below... so they will work, just take some time and patience!
The inner piece with the "horn" MUST be mounted in "reverse" opposite
as
shown in the picture above. Also, material MUST be trimmed to allow
the
inner hinge to fit as close to the door or pie panel opening as
possible. I used a Dremel and a cut-of-disk to do this.
Also, some filling of the door/panel may still be required!
Again, use the
following diagram to assemble your hinges or they will NOT work properly!!!

A few quick pictures I took of the
inside of my front skins showing proper mounting of the hinges. I
used the cut part of the inner skin and glued it to the door to beef it
up a little so the door is a little stronger when opened:

Keith and Carolyn's awesome hinged R2
at a Southern Builders Meet. Yes, it can be done with these
hinges!

I'll be taking some more closeup pictures as I get mine completed...
