MY FIRST PUBLIC APPEARANCE/GIG
THEN A BROKEN CENTER ANKLE!
R2 TAKES A TUMBLE!

I had a request from my nephew to have R2 at his wedding reception.  Every thing went great, R2 dancing with the guest until disaster!  His center foot sheered off and over he went!  This show some pictures of the damage and how I'm planning on fixing it for good.  Mishap happened on June 9th, 2007 (after CIV).

First one of many pictures I shot at my nephew's wedding reception.  R2 was a hit!

Photo of R2 still in the back of my truck.  You can see clearly the ankle that sheered off :(

Once I took out the Center Ankle mounting screws, here shows complete failure of the bottom welds.
They "fell apart" once I pulled them out of the foot.

You can see at the bottom that there was hardly ANY weld penetration, especially on the bottom...

Another shot of the opposite plate.  It's separating too at the welds...

Went out and bought a block of 6061-T6 aluminum.  This will run from Guy A.'s Center Foot Mounting block all the way down and out of the foot shell.  The end of the vertical block will be sticking out of the Center Ankle "housing" with hole drilled for bearing/mounting.  Time to program that new router!
